Oakland Army Base

The Oakland Army Base was originally constructed in 1941-1942 and played a significant role in World War II as a military supply depot and repair facility.  The Army Base continued to play an important role in the Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War.  The Base was officially closed for military operations in 1999 and eventually transferred to the City of Oakland and the Port of Oakland.
